About John Fattahi
I have ten years of experience with federal civil rights litigation, and have been practicing police excessive force litigation almost exclusively for the past seven years. I was selected to the 2015 and 2016 Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Stars lists. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.
Before establishing the Law Office of John Fattahi in 2011, I was an Associate at the Law Offices of Dale K. Galipo. I had primary responsibility for litigating a large number of false arrest and excessive force cases, many of which involved fatal police shootings.
A native of Southern California, I graduated from UCLA Law School where I served as a Senior Editor of the UCLA Law Review. I spent one year as a law clerk to a federal judge, then litigated high-stakes commercial disputes at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP. While at Quinn Emanuel, I accepted a pro bono case that led to my first jury trial through which I vindicated the constitutional rights of a prisoner who was attacked because of correctional officers’ misconduct.
